Q: Inflamation of lymp nodes is dangerous?

Hi Doc! I felt pain in my upper left border of my armpit and breast. so i consult to Gp doctor then she told me to take ultra sound and i am not sattisfied with the result i undergone MRI it indicates at the left breast is manifest STIR suppresssed sequence high intensity region at the deep and subcutaneous upper lateral aspect of the anterior axilla: reaching the anterior axillary line.In the T1 WS, irregular highpo intense mass like lesion of ill- defined outlines is seen at the describe loacation with significant early enhancement in the post=Gad dynamic bolus contrast series. the remaining breast is small and of grandular breast pattern showing some posterior, upper ductal dilation, however, no definite focal masses or cyst could be seen in that breast either before or after IV Gad contrast series in that region. Small high lighted lymp nodes are seen in the axilla and at the root of the left neck. Empression: Futher biopsy and tissue characterization is needed to the mentioned upper outer left sided early enhancing mass like lession...? Neoplastic with some inflamatory on top changes in a suspected accessory breast pocket reaching the left upper anterior axillary line and region. Doc, is inflamation of lymp nodes is dangerous?

What do u think of my result ? my GP doctor recommend breast specialist surgeon here in our place but unfortunately she's gone for vacation and she's coming back on Aug. My appointment with her is on August 13. Is it ok to wait to the recommended doctor?I'm afraid to go to other doctor. This is my first time it happened. Looking forward for your reply.Thank you.

Hi,

Those of us that answer questions on this site are not doctors, just patient advocates who have been through breast cancer. I can tell you though that, although waiting until August may seem like an eternity (I remember) but it is really only few weeks away. However, if you don't have confidence in your doctor you should certainly get a second opinion.

Good luck and take good care-

Laurie

JJ, I agree with Laurie - breast cancer is very slow growing. It's certainly not an issue to wait to see your doctor till August. Why not spend the time between now and then drawing up a list of questions? Sometimes we feel blindsided by a diagnosis and forget to ask about all kinds of things we'd like to know; you have these few weeks where you can really prepare. Good luck -PJH
