There are many causes for nipple discharge, and most of them are not cancer; in fact, some nipple discharge is normal.  Breast discharge is most worrisome when it occurs spontaneously (no squeezing).  Because your discharge is on just one side and accompanied by pain and itching, it's good that you have taken the initiative to have this checked out.  I hope you get good news when you see the doctor.
