I have been having a dark reddish brown nipple discharge for the last 2 weeks, no palpable mass.
Normal ductogram, showed dilated duct. Fluid was not tested. Saw a surgeon, who tried to express fluid. He was not able to obtain any, and therefore said there was nothing he could do, and told me to return in 4 weeks to try again. In the mean time, discharge has started again, sometimes spontaneous, other times expressed. Color is very dark reddish brown. Now what????
Hi - Now you ask for a referral to a breast specialist. I've never been a fan of "wait and see." Why not figure out what's going on, and deal with it, right? Please ask your GP or whomever you've been dealing with for a referral; breast changes aren't something to fool around with. Good luck - PJH

I already have an appointment for my annual Monday and was going to discuss it with my doctor then. I certainly wouldn't suggest anyone not get this checked out. I only asked to find out how many of these cases end up being really serious or something very simple. I just noticed this last night right before I went to bed, though mine was just brown. It really freaked me out. I have been getting a very small ammount of cloudy discharge from both nipples when squeezed only recenty. I was very concerned to see color when I check last night. I had already planned on getting an early mammogram (I'm not yet 30) for no other reason then to ease my worried mind then this comes up.

Well, the good news is, if it's both nipples, it's almost certainly not cancer - cancer occurs n only one breast at a time, except in very rare cases. I'd guess this is a hormonal issue of some kind. Have you read our post on nipple discharge? Hopefully that'll help you feel better about what's going on... Good luck - PJH

Then, you need to see a doctor, too. Not wise to rely on someone else's diagnosis to assess your own condition, OK? Really - see a doctor... Thanks for listening. PJH
