Q: swollen lymph nods

i have a small lump under my right arm pitt and it has been there for about 4 monthes now it doesn't hurt , firm to touch, fixed in place and there is no redness in the skin. do i have to worry about it i'm 29 years old i'm so scared.. i went to see a doctor 3 monthes ago and she told me i have a swollen lymph nod under my arm pitt and there is nothing to worry about cause back then i was still breast feeding my 1 month old baby. but i stopped breast feeding over 2 1/2 monthes now but the lump is still there and i started to have a burning sensation in my breast lately most of the time.. do i have to worry about any breast cancer???.

Hi - Any lump in your armpit that lasts longer than a month should be examined. So since this has been there for 4 months, you should go back and ask for a more specific diagnosis. You'll probably need to have a test—perhaps an ultrasound—in order to ascertain what it is. Should you worry? Sounds like you already are. So why not allay that worry by getting it looked at as soon ss possible? While the chance of it being cancr is much, MUCH less than the chance of it being a number of other issues, you still need to get cancer ruled out. So make that call ASAP - worry doesn't solve anything, action does! Good luck - PJH
