Q: Long term GI effects from breast cancer chemotherapy

I am a 10 year survivor of Stage III breast CA, I have recently had some boughts of GI problems.  Almost seems like a virus but no one else around me seems to catch this virus.  I experience a few days to one week of fatigue, headache, nausea, not really vomitting but lots of belching.  take emaprazole 40 mg daily already and still experience these symptoms.  I have been searching the internet for long term effects of adrimycin, taxotere etc but there does not seem too be much info on this.  would like any info you have available

Julie, I'm not aware of any long-term GI problems from chemo.  As you remember, GI disturbances are common while on chemo.  However, if you got better when chemo was over, the problems you are having ten years later are not likely to be caused by your initial treatments.  Of course, I'm not a doctor, and there might be a connection, but I think it is less likely to be a chemo side effect than a new problem.  I hope you soon find an explanation for your symptoms and an appropriate treatment.
