Q: I am a 30 year old female I found a small hard lump on my left breast last week.

I am 30 years old, last week i found a small hard nipple in my left breast, right outside of the nipple area.  The lump is still in the same spot, has not moved.  I don't have one on the right breast. Yet both nipples seem to be sensitve and a bit itchy but this could be because i was getting my period (it started today 12/17/2008) I have my yearly appt with my gyn on jan 15th, should i wait until then?  I have no pain when I touch the lump at all.

Hi - I'd wait and see if the lump goes away once your period is over. By that time, whether it did or not, it'll be about time for your OB/GYN appointment, right? So bring it up with your doctor then, even if you can no longer feel it. Lumps should always be checked if they don't go away; but both nipples beinng itchy isn't a breast cancer symptom, so you can rest easy about that. Good luck - PJH
