Wednesday, September 22, 2010 Marissa Katsock asks

Q: I started to take Tamoxifen n my knee ligament only on one leg hurts so much that I can hardly bend it. Only when I walk i feel comfort but when I sit down for a long time the pain starts.

Does the use of Tamoxifen cause severe ligamente pain on my knee or should I look for another opinion?

Marissa, there's no telling how tamoxifen will affect you - every woman experiences her own personal side effects. I haven't heard of knee pain being a typical tamoxifen side effect, but you never know... I'd go through the process of trying to figure out what it is as though you weren't taking tamoxifen, before blaming it on the drug. See your doctor, maybe get an X-ray, find out what might be causing this and try some treatment, see if it helps. Good luck - PJH

Thank you very much for your prompt answer, PJH. I will certainly look for a doctor.
