Just Diagnosed with Cancer? Chat with Experts

Thursday, May 06, 2010 Debbie Carrion asks

Q: problems locating the saline insertion button on the expanders is this normal?

I'v had bilateral Mastectomy followed with Radiation on one breast, had a Transflap with some healing complications, now placed with expanders, after two visits of inserting 50cc saline, on third visit there was no success in finding place of insertion for the saline. Now I'm given the option of another Out-Patient surgery to examine and add remainder of 200cc to each expander. Does this seem valid? Are there any other options you know of?

Sorry, Debbie, I'm not really educated on the intricacies of implants and expanders. Readers, could someone who's gone through the expander/implant process help Debbie out here? Thanks - PJH
