Q: I have a sensitive, right breast especially around the areola, but radiates through my breast, sometimes its tingly, sometimes theres a pain.

Symptoms are sensitivity, pain, and burning sensations, been on going for over a month.

I have I am 34 years old, and had a physical breast examination in June and July and although they felt lumps they said that the lumps were soft and felt like a cyclical change only, i have also seen a consultant at the hospital who did a routine physical and said she felt nothing at all. They did all say that my right breast was lumpier than my left.

i have made a GP appt again to talk about the sensitivity but would appreciate some feedback from yourselves as to what you think this may be. many thanks

It could indeed be a hormonal issue (connected to your cycle); however, since it's been going on for a month, it's time to stop assuming that's what it is and do some testing, as it sounds like you're doing. Pain and burning, often accompanied by itching and swelling, can be a sign of a rare type of breast cancer, IBC (inflammatory breast cancer); luckily, it IS rare and it's unlikely that's what this is. However, bring this up at your next appointment, just so you can be sure they rule it out. Beyond that, read our post on breast pain; perhaps it'll help you figure out what this might be. Good luck- PJH
