Q: Mastectomy w/ immediate reconstructon but later oncotype DX score comes back high!

Hi, it is me again!

I am wondering if after I decide to go through with mastectomy plus immediate reconstruction and my oncotype DX score result comes back high I'll be able to have chemo at all, and will I be able to have the expanders & put implants while on chemo?

Yes, absolutely. Chemo is usually given post-surgery, so you'll have time to make that decision while you're healing. I'm not sure what schedule implant reconstruction would follow, but I'm betting it could wait till after chemo; you might have some initial work done during the mastecotmy, then wait for the rest. Hope this helps - and, as always, be sure to ask your doctor/surgeon this question, OK? PJH
