Hi Vanessa: This score is used to assess the seriousness of your cancer. It's based on a number of factors, and the scale goes from 0-9, so 8 is pretty serious. Please read our Guide to Understanding Your Pathology Report - on p. 2, you'll find an explanation of the Bloom-Richardson Scale, from which the Nottingham score was derived. The two are similar enough that reading about Bloom-Richardson will serve as an explanation of Nottingham. Good luck to you - stay in touch here, we can help. PJH
