Just Diagnosed with Cancer? Chat with Experts

Q: Red Spot on Breast, Left Breast, 3/4 way down breast from shoulder side.

I have an eraser size red spot on my breast. It appeared a couple of months ago as a bright red mark and turned dark red pretty quickly. It's not hot or raised. It's close to a blood vessell, any suggestions to what it might be? During that same time I had three lumps under my arm that all went away within a few days. I stuck needles in them thinking they were some sort of boil, but nothing came out (the arm pits, not the breast).  The red spot remains and seems to be getting little runs in it.

Hi - I'm thinking if that spot has been there 2 months, it's probably a skin issue of some kind. I think that it would have developed into something more serious by now, if it were an early sign of inflammatory breast cancer. But keep your eye on it; if it gets bigger, or changes dramatically, or your breast seems infected (swollen, hot, red, painful, itchy), then best to see a doctor.

As for the lumps - since they disappeared, there's probably nothing to worry about. Sometimes lumps under your arms come and go in synch with your period. You may be experiencing fibrocystic change... Good luck - PJH
