I have these red, itchy bumps on my breast where I am having radiation treatments. Has anyone else had them and if so, what did you use to help? I have been using the creme's that the radiation oncologist has given me, but, they still itch.

Jeanne, different women react all different ways to radiation - each woman's side effects seem to be personal. You're no doubt having a topical skin reaction to the radiaiton. I'd ask the radiation oncologist for a prescription for a stronger (yet still radiation-friendly) cream; you want to be sure not to self-medicate and inadvertently use something that "fights" the radiation, OK? Good luck - PJH
I agree that radiation is not a time to self-medicate. I was told to check with the radiation oncologist or her nurse before putting ANYTHING on my skin they hadn't approved. There are quite a few different types of creams and lotions that can be used, so let the doctor, nurse, or technician know that you would like to try something different.
I experienced red, itchy bumps on part of my radiated breast about half way through treatment. The radiation oncologist told me to use CortAid. I had been using Aquaphore on my breast previous to this and the doc said not to use the CortAid cream and the aquaphore on the same area. The CortAid really worked on getting rid of the itch. I only needed to use it a few times. Hope this helps. Good luck to you.
