Q: Sore lump on my nipple, could it be serious?

I have a lump above my left nipple it has been there for a little while now. Last night I popped it. Puss and blood came out. My nipple has been sore since it popped up a few weeks ago. I'm jsut wondering, is it serious?

Laura, it could be an ingrown hair, an infection in a milk duct... There's no telling exactly what it is, though it does sound like an infection. Breast cancer doesn't usually appear as a sore with pus and blood. Any infection that lingers should be treated, so best make a doctor's appointment and get it taken care of, OK? Good luck - PJH
