Angie we share things in common, mainly our set backs. Im kinda lost right now. On 12-31 you answered me (again) I seen PS Im on antibiotics, he took out 100cc from my expander, he also said he might have to do another litis flap, this time on rt side. I cant do this again When it was done on my rt side I ended up loosing my job of 6yrs. Im going to lose my house if I miss even one day of work. The 3+ yrs Ive done this by myself and held my own. Im so worried now that im getting so worked up im a complete mess. I have a 14 yr old and I know i cant fall apart. But I dont even know were to turn. I live in Arizona and my bills are more than the state would help you with, so I havent bothered with the  state system. I went to work 2days after a lumpectomy, 4 days after my bi-lat masc. 1week after a full hyster, took not one day when I did 7+ weeks of radition, but when i was on IV antib for staph infection (2 mon)work wouldnt let me back so I tiled my floor. Had to do something.( i work in dental field) Who do you turn to for help with household bills? My CC are tapped out. Bankrupt/ being homeless is comming if i have to have litis flap. dont know my next move. My medical is the only thing that i dont fret too much about my premium is 100 a mon. Ill make sure I keep that up. thank god ive had that for along time and they cant drop me. But who helps the middle class?

Kim, I'm not sure what you can do with your current employer, but I do wonder how your previous one could legally fire you after years on the job.   Did they know about your cancer and did you have the forms filled out for FMLA?  Under Federal law if you're emploeyed for 1 year, eligible, and they employee over 50 people you are entitled to up to 12 weeks of work and they legally cannot fire you - you just have to have the forms filled out and signed by a doctor.  FMLA is protection for adoption, childbirth and life threatening diseases.  My husband fills his out each year to protect him for having to miss days of work for my surgeries and tests.  There's not much you can do now about it - unless you had one in place, then you could sue your previous employer.

What I would suggest now is talking with the HR person of your current employer to see if they can provide you with some assitance.  They can usually offer you some time off to help - most people do have some compassion.  I'd also call your mortgage company and your cc companies.  Do you have protection coverage on your CC's?  If so losing your last job should help cover not being able to make payments now.  They should also be able to help you with not making payments now till you are well enough to do so.  I'm sure your doctor can fill out forms for proof.  It would be a lot of calls to make, but I'm sure once you talk to the right people they can somehow offer you some help so you don't lose your home.  If all else fails start filing for bankruptcy if you have to, or some form of it that will allow for protection.

You have to do what is necessary to get this hole fixed so you can work and whatnot.  Talk with your doctor and explain you can't fo another procedure like that cause you can't take the time off from work and see if he can offer something else that has less recovery time.  You can try speaking with the hospital's social services and see what they can do to help or even try local chapters of susan komen or american cancer society - even try your church if you belong to one.  It doesn't hurt to try to ask for help - you never know what they can do or what ideas they may have.  So give it a try and see what you come up with.

Stay positive - hopefully it will all work out in the end, ok!

Please keep me informed!

Angi
