Q: Breast Cancer Diagnose, anxious for treatment

I was diagnose with invasive ductal breast cancer on March 23,2009. Cancer was also found in my sentinel lymph node (stage 2). I am unisured and have not started any type of treatment as yet. I am trying to get funding so that i can start treatment as soon as possible. What should I do?

Hi Alma: First, speak to social services at the hospital that gave you your diagnosis. See what plan they have for uninsured cancer patients. I don't believe a lack of insurance prevents you from receiving life-saving treatments... there has to be some sort of program you can access. If you don't get any help there, though, please access the resources in our Guide to Free Mammograms. These are all national programs that help underserved women dealing with cancer. Good luck - PJH

My nurse at my medical oncologist's office gave me these links awhile back. Supposedly these places help out in various way for those dealing with cancer, so I thought I would pass along the info:
