Just Diagnosed with Cancer? Chat with Experts

Saturday, November 21, 2009 JennyBeth asks

Q: I have red boil like things under my left breast. Could it be a sign of cancer?

These boil like things come and go. Its like as soon as 1 goes away another pops up in a different spot. They leave scars, and only on my left breast. I'm a little worried but don't have ins. to get it checked out.

Hi - If this has been going on for quite some time - like months, rather than weeks - then it would seem you have an allergy or skin infection of some kind. If this was a breast cancer symptom, the boils/pimples would come and stay, not disappear. So, unless the problem seems to be worsening – like your breast seems infected (hot, red, swollen, painful, itchy), just try to deal with them as best you can with antibiotic creams, and keeping the area clean and dry. If you're able to see a doctor, please do. And IF they get noticeably worse, then you should see a doctor, even though you don't have insurance. Good luck - PJH

Thank you very much. It has been bothering me for some time now. They do go away but leave scars. I will see a dr. as soon as I am able to. Thank you again for putting my mind at ease a little.
