My son is supposed to wear such a badge for his retail job, but his manager is now questioning whether it is safe to wear one or if it will cause/promote cancer.

I'm not aware of such a connection.
I haven't heard of any danger from name badges. The magnets in them are not very large or strong. Also since they are often on a lapel, there is usually a layer or two of cloth between the magnet and the skin. However, since your daughter has a heart condition, she should probably ask her doctor. She could also wear the badge on her right side.

I have a similar concern for my 22 yr old daughter, because she has a benign arrythmia, requiring no medication and nor further check ups. Is it safe?
