There are so many possibilities about what might be going on, that it is hard to answer your question.  Reading about itchy breasts in this article can help you decide if you need to see a doctor right away.  If you are premenopausal, you could watch that lump until after your period to see if it goes away like many cysts do.  If you are no longer having periods, I would suggest that you go ahead and make an appointment to have the lump checked.  All breast changes that last longer than a month definitely need to be evaluated by a doctor.  Keep in mind that most breast changes are not cancer, so don't panic.  Do be concerned enough to take action.
