how to get rid of belly fat
I walk 2 miles a day, uphill and downhill. I take Arimidex. Can't seem to lose any weight. Besides starving, what can I do?
Vivian, starving isn't a good option, for sure! There's a lot of moving parts with weight loss... lots of variables. My advice would be to access a dietitian or nutritionist at your hospital, and ask for some help with lifestyle and diet both. Did you know, for instance, that not getting enough sleep causes weight gain? A trained specialist can help you develop an eating/exercise plan that works for YOU—and since you're already a patient, shouldn't be hard to get a referral. Good luck - PJH

Vivian,
That's where my post chemo-pause weight has settled, too! PJs advice is good. A nutritionist would be able to assess your diet and give you good advice.
Yoga, pilates and targetted abdominal exercises can all burn fat and build up core strength - not that I have been able to stick to a program long enough to find out for sure! And I do find that shaking up the exercise program can help accelerate weight loss (I added slow jogging to my running and have just started to ride my bike again). Are you doing any resistance training? Building muscle can burn fat, too.
Most of all, though, I wanted to ask you to go easy on yourself. If you are eating well and exercising every day, you are doing very good things for your body and you will reap the benefits, regardless of what happens to your weight.
Can if your cancer was estrogen positive, exercise can significantly lower your chance of recurrence.
Good luck and take good care-
Laurie
