Q: i need to know where in n.c. i can get help with funds for biopsy i have no insurance

i had a diagnostic and ultrasound done i was told i have 2 lumps and a mass in my right breast which they said needs to be done asap my mother had breast cancer in 1967 which later turned to bone cancer which she died from i am from the lake lure/ashville area in north carolina the doctor there said i shouldnt wait i was told of a special group which helps women with no insurance can you PLEASE let me know who to contact to help me get this done  PLEASE    thank you , denise

Hi Denise - You need to go to your local hospital, ask to see social services, and tell them what's going on. I don't believe they can refuse to ttreat you, just because you don't have insurance. They'll work out a payment plan for you, offer you reduced-price services, or whatever they can offer - but you have to have these lumps looked at and treated, if necessary. You might also take a look at the National Cancer Institute's Web site, whre they offer a range of financial services for cancer treatment. Sorry I can't direct you to anyplace specific in N.C., but I hope this helps- PJH

ILIVE IN GATES,NC GO TO YOUR HEATHDEPARTMENT AND ASK ABOUT A PROGRAM CALLED BCCP I ALSO HAVE A LUMP AND A MASS AND I HOPEAND PRAY ITS NOT CANCER GOOD LUCK
