Mary, each person's reaction to any drug is individual, so there'sno telling how long the swelling and aches will last. Especially with aromatase inhibitors, which are relatively new to the market and without much background info. on side effects. I'm sorry you've had such a hard time! But certainly quality of life is a huge consideration, as we go through treatment. Good luck - PJH

Hi Mary - I stopped taking Femara (a sister drug of Arimidex) in March after I found out my cancer returned and I still continue to have joint pain.  Most mornings I can't hardly ball my hands up - and my knees and hips hurt so much - but like PJ said, everyone is different is reacts differently.

Hopefully you'll find a way to cope soon enough!

Good luck!
