Val, start with your family doctor. If you need a referral to a breast surgeon, your family doctor can make the arrangements. Sometimes one breast is just bigger than another. One frequent cause for breast swelling in women your age is pregnancy. An infection could also be the cause of your symptoms. Swelling and pain can be early symptoms of a relatively rare form of breast cancer called inflammatory breast cancer, so you are wise to see a doctor right away. However, this form of cancer is rare, so don't panic yet. I hope the problem turns out to be something easy to solve.
