Lux - No one can predict the future for any of us with cancer. Women with metastatic breast cancer are living longer and better lives than they did in the past. Certainly a metastasis to the brain is very serious; I'm sure her doctors will propose a treatment plan for her to follow after the surgery. You must be very worried, but at this point, all you can do is wait and see how the surgery goes, and then how successful the treatment is. Good luck - PJH

As a woman who lives with breast cancer metastasis (mine spread to my liver when I was 39), I agree with what PJ said. Please do remember that great advances have been made in recent years and even months and that many of us are living longer and enjoy a very good quality of life. I wish your sister in law all the best during this incredibly difficult time.

I know that being surrounded by loving family is very important. She is lucky to have you.

Take good care-

Laurie
