Are you asking about a mammogram film? Each imaging test shows the structures it is looking at in different ways. On a mammogram cysts and solid lumps look the same. An ultrasound is better at distinguishing between cysts and solid lumps. Ask your doctor for a "tour" of your film to find out what you are seeing. Muscles, connective tissues, milk ducts, and fat all have different densities so they show up as different shades of black, gray and white on the film. It takes a trained radiologist to interpret the film.
