Q: hi! im 18 years old, I'm scared right now because just this afternoon, i felt a lump on my upper left part of breast.My friend had the sme prblem bfore, it dsappeared after her mnstrual period.
Mielle, there are all kinds of breast lumps, and most of them are not breast cancer, especially in younger women like yourself. A lump that comes and goes with the menstrual cycle is most likely a harmless cyst. Don't be scared about this lump. Do be concerned enough to pay attention to see if it goes away. If it is still there in a month, check with your doctor. See a doctor sooner if you experience redness, swelling, or a fever. Sometimes lumps can be related to breast infections.
