Q: Age 80 aunt diagnosed as invasive ductal cancer,stage2. At the first med. oncology visit is it appropriate to ask about further tests-checking for any mets? Her med.dr. has prescribed radiation? THX

I assume she's had surgery, and had the tumor removed. At the time, they may have also checked the lymph nodes under her arm; that's generally the case, and is the best way to check to see if the cancer has spread. You can ask about further testing, but it's generally not done, unless there's reason to think it might have spread; and it sounds like your aunt's cancer was caught early, if she's not having chemo, but simply radiation.
