Q: Arimidex and Cholesterol Spike Connection?

Has anyone else taking Arimidex experienced a spike in cholesterol levels? Is this indeed a side effect?

Just had my physical, and my internist told me mine was elevated, and she wants me to come back in 3 months for another cholesterol screen.  Has me very concerned, especially since I am now a vegetarian and exercise regularly!  I saw one statistic that said up to 9% experience this type of elevated cholesterol since taking arimidex.

Thanks, Momof2, for your response. I checked with my pharmacist, and he noted the same figure. I am giving it one more six month shot at reducing it without using statins, which I tried at my oncologist's suggestion. The statins left me feeling pretty yucky, not to mention dismayed at adding yet another drug to my list. My pharmacist suggested red rice yeast as a possible supplement to help. I've eliminated everything but fish from my diet and am severely limiting dairy. Hopefully it will help.
