Hi - could be a hormonal thing... there's no telling. If the lump doesn't disappear in a couple of weeks — i.e., you can determine it wasn't part of your menstrual cycle — then might as well get it checked out, since breast lumps that don't go away should always be checked out. Pain isn't generally a breast cancer symptom, so not sure why your breast is sore, but if it's still sore, you could ask about that at the same time. So, wait and see - but do get it checked if it doesn't disappear. Good luck - PJH

Wondering if the original author of this post ever went to a doctor and what they found out. I am experiencing this exact symptom right now. I didn't hesitate and went to the doctor this morning. He is scheduling me for a diagnostic mammorgram.

Good luck to you - hopefully it's just a fibroadenoma or something harmless. If not, stay in touch, OK? We can help. PJH

Thank you so much. I am quite scared right now. I have other medical issues going on as well - high blood pressure (170/100), high cholesterol, an unexplained 50 lb weight gain in 6 months. Hopefully we can get it all taken care of. I'm only 43 and have a lot of living left to do!!!
