Not Having Menstural Cycle After Mastectomy

Hello

 

I had my mastectomy Oct 2 of this year (2009)and noticed that I still have not gotten my period is that normal?

One event should have nothing to do with the other. Perhaps your body is just reacting to the disruption of surgery? Could you be pregnant? Beginning menopause? You don't say when your last period was... at any rate, this is something to mention to your doctor, OK? Good luck - PJH

Maybe it's the stress of everything.  The cancer, surgery, whatnot.  The body is a funny thing.  Cycles can be disrupted for the slightest change.  Also, I'm not sure what type of cancer you have - but, it seems to me that hormonal problems and cancer often go hand and hand.  Prior to getting cancer I often had problems with my period and had to take progesterone to make it start.  If you don't start soon, and it's not related to anything PJ has said, then I'd ask your doctor for help.
