Category:am i at high risk of breast cancer

i feel s sharp pain in my left breast for almost every hour for 2 days now, could it be cancer?

i had my menstruation for longer than a week now, and i had this sharp pain in my left breast almost every hour for 2 days now. i don't actually know how to differentiate if it's a lump or not because i'm a bit skinny, but the pain is there. i'd like to know if that could be an early sign of breast cancer. is the lump supposed to be visible or palpable, is it supposed to be hard and tender and painful to be a positive symptom? or is it supposed to be painless?

Hi JP: In general, a breast lump that's cancer is painless. It doesn't come and go with your period, and it'll usually feel solid. Unless your left breast is also red, hot, and swollen, I don't believe the pain would be a sign of cancer. However, clearly you're worried. Why not get it checked out? A doctor could set your mind at ease... Good luck - PJH
