Hi Kay: First, you may find our Guide to Understanding Your Pathology Report helpful reading.

Spindle cell metaplasia is a fairly rare sub-type of breast cancer; IDC is the main type, SpCC the sub-type. Grade III of III probably refers to your Scharff-Bloom-Richardson score (which you can read about in the pathology report guide). It indicates that your cancer is in the top category of seriousness.

You'll probably want to make a list of questions to ask your oncologist; be prepared to take notes, as it can all be pretty confusing at first. It also helps to bring someone with you to help you listen and absorb what's said. Together, you and the oncologist will fomrulate your treatment plan. Best of luck to you, Kay - stay in touch, we're here for you. - PJH
