i had a lump for awhile now under my armpit painless
lump started out small went to dr few years back she told me its from to much caffine since then its gotten bigger and im afraid of cancer. what should i do
Did the doctor do an ultrasound or any other kind of test when you showed her the lump? There are lots of kinds of bumps and lumps that people can have for years that are not dangerous at all, and since you've had this for a long time, the chances are it's OK. However, because this one is growing, I'd suggest going back to the doctor. A needle biopsy can be done in the office to check to make sure there is nothing wrong.

Hi KH - I would push for a mammogram and an ultrasound. It's possible that it could just be a swollen lymph nodes, but at the same time breast tissue does extend as far as your armpit. It's ALWAYS best to get any lump checked out that doesn't come and go with your period. The ultrasound will detect if the mass is solid or fliud filled (cyst).
Best of luck to you. Please keep us informed.

I know it has been awhile since you made a comment.......but you seem to know what you are talking about and I am worried and just need advice.
About 1 1/2 years ago I found a small pea size lump under my arm that is painless. The doctor said not to worry about it because it most likely a cyst. Then 6 months later I went back because it had grown to a large marble. He had me take an ultrasound that told me it is a solid mass.....not a cyst, but again sent me home and said it's nothing to worry about. Then a few weeks ago I went back because I feel weak all the time and told him it's still growing. He sent me to do another ultrasound and they confirmed that it has triples in size and it is still a solid mass but the tech said it isn't connected to my breast tissue or lympnode. The tech said I should get a biopsy, but doctor said again not to worry about it and will not refer me.
Should I be concerned? I don't know as much as the Dr. but the fact that it's growing and a solid mass concerns me. Could this be serious?
Thanks much,
