If you are worried, get a second opinion. Although breast cancer in girls as young as your daughter is EXTREMELY rare, it is worth following up on any breast changes (or other unexplained lumps, just to be on the safe side and especially as you yourself have just gone through breast cancer treatment.

Good luck and take good care.

Hi - I understand you wanting to get an opinion other than the pediatrician's, since you must be worried about her being at risk because of you. However, please think twice about bringing her with you to your appointment, where she'll be exposed to all kinds of information she'll probably find quite scary. As Laurie said, and as the pediatrician noted, it's nearly impossible for your daughter to have breast cancer at age 10. So tread lightly - you don't want to introduce her to chronic stress and worry at her young age. Perhaps YOU speaking to your oncologist (without her present) could set your mind at ease about whether she actually needs to be examined again or have any further diagnostic testing. I wish you both well- PJH
