Hi Diane - Breast soreness is usually hormonal, but if it's cyclical in nature and related to hormones, 4 weeks of pretty constant pain wouldn't be normal.

There's a rare type of breast cancer, Inflammatory Breast Cancer, that can begin with soreness. It usually progresses noticeably over time to pain, swelling, and other infection-like symptoms, and it doesn't sound like your soreness is becoming worse; still, I think it's worth seeing a doctor about. Any breast change that lasts longer than 4 weeks should be checked by a doctor, and you're at that 4-week point.

Please don't panic; the chance of this being IBC is remote. But you do need to rule it out for safety's sake, OK? Take care- PJH
