Vitamin D is not harmful, and there is good recent research showing that many people are deficient in Vitamin D.  However, if you spend time in the sun regularly, you may be getting all the Vitamin D you need.  Folic acid is also an important substance we need.  It's especially important for women of child-bearing age because a deficiency can lead to birth defects.  Perhaps you read something about overdoses of folic acid.  Before you start on any supplements (more than a multi-vitamin), check with your doctor, especially if you are in treatment for breast cancer.  Some supplements can interfere with treatment.
