Just Diagnosed with Cancer? Chat with Experts

Q: Bleeding nipple after excisional biopsy.

I recently had an excisional biopsy on my left breast because of a bleeding nipple.  My surgeon is convinced that the bleeding was due to a hematoma that was caused from a previous stereotactic biopsy.  Now two weeks after the surgery, my incision is healing well, but I have watery light red discharge coming from multiple locations in the nipple.  Is this normal due to the surgery?

I don't know how common this is, but I'd suggest that you report it to your doctor to find out if you need to be seen.  Usually a biopsy would be pretty well healed after two weeks.  It may be nothing to worry about, but do call it to the doctor's attention.
