Just Diagnosed with Cancer? Chat with Experts

Sunday, March 15, 2009 ledmaiston asks

Q: I have mass in left breast, burning pain in left shoulder blade. Could mass be pressing?

I am scheduled for biosphy next week on left breast.  I have had left breast pain and a sharp, burning pain under my left shoulder blade.  The doctor said that the mass looks like a fibroidenoma (it was oblong and looked very dark in the ultrasound).  Both pains started around the same time. Could the mass be blocking a lymph node or duct?  I don't know if I should go to the doctor now or wait until the biosphy.  The burning in under the left shoulder blade is almost unbearable.

Hi - You didn't mention in your earlier question that you were scheduled for a biopsy... that's good, since they see a mass. If you have burning pain under your left shoulder blade that's nearly unbearable, I'd go to the emergency room. Any time you have pain that bad, it warrants immediate action - and especially on the left side of your chest, since it could indicate a heart problem. Good luck to you - PJH
