Just Diagnosed with Cancer? Chat with Experts

Sunday, June 15, 2008 Grace asks

Q: I have sore and tender breast especially around nipple...

I had a breast infection just under nipple on my right breast about 10 years ago(when I was 30) and removed the infectious area with surgery. After that, I have felt uncomfortable and sore/tender tissue around the surgery area/nipple occasionally. It becomes more heavier and tender before my menstration period. Should I worried?

Grace, since this soreness is associated with your menstrual cycle, it's probably nothing to worry about, cancer-wise. Hormonal changes often produce soreness on a regular basis. However, if it's bothering you, why not make a doctor's appointment to see if there's anything you can do to ease the pain? Good luck - PJH
