Hi - Please don't worry about breast cancer ; at your age, it's virtually impossible. Please read our letter to teens, and our teen guide to breast development. Once you've read them, I think you'll feel a whole lot better. Bottom line: at your age, your breasts are starting to grow and develop; painful lumps that come and go over the months are a given. This lump you feel is probably the beginning of the process.

It would be good if you could share this concern with your mom (embarrassing though it might be!) And if the lump gets larger, more painful, or your breast seems to be infected - or if it simply doesn't feel "right" to you - please ask your mom to take you to the doctor, as you might have an infection of some kind. Good luck - PJH
