Five months after cytoxin/taxotare chemo I have inflamation of the meningees is this common??

Donna

I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer last year, and underwent a Masectomy and then four rounds of Chemo, the last one being in March, since June I have had headaches and dizziness on and off. They did a Brain MRI in August with showed inflamation of the meningees, a LP which did not show anything. Now 2 months later they did another brain MRI and the inflamation is more enhanced.  My symptons are about the same.  Any ideas??could it be from the chemo?  Cancer??

Donna, this certainly isn't a common side effect; in fact, I've never seen it mentioned, so if it is, it must be rare. At any rate, this is something you need to pursue with your medical team. Be strong and advocate for yourself; tell them you want an answer and a solution, and if you don't get it, ask to be referred for a second opinion somewhere else. You certainly don't want to continue to put up with this pain; and you also want to determine its cause. Good luck - PJH

I have had the exact treatment you have had.  I was diagnosed in February, 2008, underwent a bilateral mastectomy in April, 2008.  4 treatments of cytoxin and taxotare which ended in July. 2008.  My headaches and dizziness began in February, 2009.  Extreme and daily.  I have had 3 MRI's, all negative, a CT Angiosomethingorother, as well as, 3 occipital blocks, which numbed my scalp, but did nothing for the pressure and pain.  I continue to battle head and neck pressure and pain.  Every day.  I wish someone could give a diagnosis.  If it is a result of the chemo, so be it.  At least we would KNOW.  I wish you good health and days free of pain.  C
