Cathy, there's a bit of disagreement in the medical community about this. My research leads me to believe that natural soy products - e.g., tofu, soy milk, edamame, etc.; soy in its food-like form - are OK, in moderation. But please avoid the "soy extract" or other types of soy in natural supplements or medications, such as those for hot flashes. When soy is pulled apart like this, and only some of its elements used, apparently it can act like estrogen and fuel breast cancer growth. Please read my piece on the soy-cancer connection for more info. Good luck - PJH
