Just Diagnosed with Cancer? Chat with Experts

Q: 34yrs. Have hard pea size lump on L breast (11 o'clock if 3 o'clock is outer side). Close to surface but deeper than cystic pimple. Skin is slightly darker. No kids, finished last period 3 days ago.

Hi, I am 34yrs old. I have a very tender hard pea size lump on my left breast which is toward the middle rather than the outer side, (I would call it 11 o'clock if 3 o'clock were toward my left side). It feels farely close to the surface but deeper than a cystic pimple does. The lump feels smooth with round edges. The skin over it is slightly darker (pinker) than the rest. I have no history of lumps, no breast cancer history in my family, no children & I finished my last period three days ago. Do you have any thoughts on this?

This is a breast change that a doctor needs to check, even though breast cancer lumps are usually not painful.  Most breast lumps are cysts or harmless fibroadenomas.  The pain and change in skin color might suggest an infection that could need an antibiotic, but only your doctor can tell you for sure.  If you just found the lump, you could watch it for a week or two to see if it goes away on its own.  However, you will probably feel better if you can find out what it is as soon as possible.  I hope you get good news.
