Am 50 year old female.  Quit smoking 12 years ago.  Eat way healthier than I used to.  Multigrains, low fat, try & maintain a healthy weight.  Have recently been diagnosed with GERD and sleep apnea.  My xrays show nothing, blood tests clear except for TSH levels for thyroid, have a goiter that is being monitored.  Have underarm lumps but no breast lumps showed up mammogram.  Used has chest and abdomen CATScan this week.  Should I be concerned?  Otherwise I feel quite healthy though I was quite fatigued (we assume from the sleep apnea).  Should I be worried?  What are odds that lumps are cancerous?

Hi Carol - With everything else going on health-wise, those lumps may be lymph nodes swelled from a long-term infection or some other cause. I'm glad your mammogram is clear - that's a really good sign. I'd simply ask about the lumps when you go in for your checkup - they'll probaby be able to make a good assessment as to whether you need to have them tested. Good luck - PJH
