Q: Moving pain

I have been diagonized with Invasive ductal carcinoma and scheduled for surgery on the 2 sept. My question is I have this moving pain form my right arm that kind of moves all over my body sometimes to my left nipple even though the lump is on my right and sometimes moves to my leg. I have asked for a cat scan to see if this the cancer has moved to other parts of my body thats why I have this pain but the oncologist said it was not neccesary at this point. I forgot to mention that when the pain moves to my right chest it is the most painful part. Does anybody have this kind of symtoms or please any advise will help at this time. Thanks

Hi - Welcome to the club no one wants to join! Please stay in touch here - we can help you through this.

I think your oncologist is right- this doesn't sound like a breast cancer symptom, nor a symptom of cancer having spread. There's no telling what it is (nerve issue? hormonal issue?), but without something specific to look at, it doesn't make sense to scan.

Good luck with your surgery - I hope it turns out well. PJH

It could be that pressure from the tumor is pushing on a nerve and causing the kind of radiating pain you are describing.  I think the doctor isn't investigating this right now because the pathology report at the time of your surgery will give you much more information about whether the cancer might have spread.  See if the problem goes away after surgery.  If not, that will be the time to push the doctor to do more investigating.  My best wishes to you.  I hope the surgery goes well.

Hi, My husband has the same moving pain symptoms as you.  It also is at it's worse when on the right side of his chest.  He has matastic bladder cancer.  May I ask what you found out about this if anything?

My moving pain stopped after the lumpectomy, however the pathology result was not that good, there was another cancer on the same breast and i have to go for MRI that might help in detecting some other things. Hope dis helps.

I wish you and you husband all the bestSmile
