Q: Itchy nipple with discharge

I have a very itchy left nipple and sometimes during the month I have a brownish discharge from that breast.  Could this be hormonal?

Deb, breast changes that happen at the same point in your menstrual cycle can be hormonal.  You can read more about discharge in PJ Hamel's post on the topic.  If your itchy nipple has a scaly, eczema-like rash, you'll need to see a doctor.  A scaly rash on the breast can be a symptom of Paget's Disease of the Breast.  Most often an itchy nipple is just due to irritation from rubbing against your bra or a soap that's too drying.
