Sharon, since this has been going on for up to 7 months, it doesn't really sound like cancer; inflammatory breast cancer would have progressed and gotten much worse. However, clearly something is going on, and you absolutely need to find out what's causing this swelling and soreness. Follow up with your original doctor to find out whatever became of that referral to the breast specialist. Insist that you want the appointment scheduled - and then don't give up until you get it. Aside from wanting to be absolutely assured this isn't cancer (and only a doctor can give you that assurance), it would be nice to treat this and relieve your pain. So get on the phone and sstart the process ASAP, OK? Best of luck - hope you get some relief soon. PJH
