Hi - At age 13, your chances of having breast cancer are less than 1 in 1 million. Nevertheless, a purple lump on your breast is something you should have looked at. It could be an infection, and you certainly don't want it to get any worse without getting treated. So best to see a doctor, OK? Good luck - PJH

Your description sounds more like a skin issue, not a cancer issue.  There are many changes your breasts will be going through over the next few years.  Breast cancer almost never happens to teenagers.  Your cousin's breast cancer is not considered to be a risk factor for you.  Read our Teen Guide to Normal Breast Development for more information.  If the purple/gray area hurts or gets larger, show it to an adult to see if you need to see a doctor.
