Q: Effectiveness of Post tram flap failure chemotherapy

1 month ago my mother-in-law had TRAM flap after mascatomy and LD failure. 2 weeks back her FLAP was totally removed except for just a very small area. Now doctor says that it will take weeks for the natural growth of the granulation tissue. her biopsy showed thar12 out of 12 lymph nodes positive for carcinomia matastisic. her wound is open and granulation tissue will take 2 months for full recovery. her oncologist has started ferma and chemo as its already late for her remaining chemo. the quesion is what %age of patients had effective chemo in this situation.

I'm sorry your mother-in-law's surgery didn't go well.  There probably are no studies on people in her specific situation, so the experience of her doctors will be your best guide for what to expect.  Since she is moving into relatively uncharted treatment territory, she might want to get a second opinion at a comprehensive cancer center.  We may have a reader who had a similar experience who can share her story.
