Q: Micromets and odds of recurrence

I had a bilat mastectomy in 2002 due to invasive cancer on L side, about 5 cm, hormone recept positive, extreme family history.

Sentinel node biopsy showed micromets in both L nodes.  Don't think sentinel nodes were looked at on R side.

Had chemo (adriamycin/cytoxan mix, 3 taxol - missed last taxol), 22 radiation (had to stop due to infection in implant), 5 yrs tamoximen, now femara.

I know it's difficult, but please, I'm wondering about odds of recurrence.  Can you tell me something?Thank you.

Ginny, it's virtually impossible to assess your particular risk of recurrence; WAY too many variables. However, statistically speaking, the GENERAL 5-year survival rate for women whose breast cancer has spread to their nodes, but not beyond, is about 84%. Please speak to your oncologist for a better read on your own situation, OK? Good luck - PJH
